●Made in California. Designed, patented and built by the same family since 1961.

An upright decanter with a twist through the body and a wrapped handle — the taller, narrower answer to the wide captain’s shape, and the one that suits a table where space is tight.

Decanting does two things. It gets a young wine in contact with air, which softens the tannin and opens up aromas that were shut down in the bottle; and on an older wine it leaves the sediment behind in the bottle rather than in the last glass.

The twist is what catches the light: a red wine in it reads almost black at the base and ruby where the glass turns. Part of the Luca Collection from Cork Pops.

For a faster version of the same effect, the VinOair aerator aerates as you pour, with nothing to wash afterwards — which is why most decanters live in a cupboard.

A family business that still makes the thing it invented.
Est. 1961

A family business that still makes the thing it invented.

It started in a workshop in 1961. Three generations later the family still holds the patent, still runs the line in Novato, California, and still packs the cartridges that go in the box.

That is why the refills never disappear, why an opener bought years ago still takes a standard cartridge, and why the thing feels like it was made by someone who cared.
